Sarah Shahi’s father is Iranian and her mother is Spanish. Her last name indicates that she is a descendent of Iranian king Fath Ali Shah of the Qajar Dynasty. When Sarah was just 10 year old, her parents divorced and she lived with her mother. She enrolled in Trinity High School and Dallas’ Southern Methodist University and majored in English and Opera. In 1997, Sarah won the Miss Fort Worth USA pageant. During 1999-2000, she joined Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ squad and appeared on the cover of their 2000 calendar.
Sarah Shahi worked as an extra on the set of ‘Dr. T and the Women’. There she met Robert Altman, the director and he was the man who encouraged her to go to Hollywood and try her hand in acting. Eventually, she moved to Los Angeles. Initially, she got recurring roles in shows ‘Alias’ as Jenny and Dawson’s Creek as Sadia Shaw. She also portrayed the first ghost in ‘Supernatural’, CW’s paranormal drama.

In the Showtime Network’s ‘The L Word’, Sarah appeared as Mexican American DJ Carmen de la Pica Morales. In the second season of ‘Sleeper Cell’, Sarah played Farah. In HBO’s ‘The Sopranos’, she performed Sonya Aragon and she was also seen in Jackie Chan movie ‘Rush Hour 3′. Currently, she’s appearing on ‘Life’, NBC television series, opposite Damian Lewis.
