Karina Lombard was born to Nupuree Lightfoot, an immigrant of Lakota Sioux and Henry Lombard, a European aristocrat. She has four siblings Helen, Inez, Charles and Denise. Her father has Russian, Italian and Swiss ancestry. When Karina was just one year old, her parents separated and her father took his children to Spain. She attended several Swiss Boarding Schools. She has proficiency in Spanish, English, Italian, French and German languages. At 18, she went to New York and tried modeling and also started studying acting. She joined New York City’s ‘Gallery Theatre’, Neighborhood Playhouse’, ‘Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute’ and ‘Actors Studio’
Her major modeling break was in a photo shoot with Calvin Klein and it was a very soothing moment for her when one of her photographs was chosen to be a billboard ad. In 1993, she was seen in ‘Wide Sargasso Sea’. In 1994, Karina appeared in ‘Legends of the Fall’. In 2000, she turned towards television and got a role in ‘The L word’ and in ‘The 4400′. She’s hinted at being bisexual and in 2006 she did a six page nude pictorial for Playboy where she portrayed both feminine and masculine counterparts of a lesbian couple.

Karina Lombard portrayed Marina Ferrer on ‘The L Word’. She’s the owner of The Planet and in the very first season of the series, she seduced Jenny and it was what ruined Jenny’s relationship with her boyfriend, Tim. In the later episodes of series, Jenny-Marina relationship also came to an end. She is one of the major characters of the series.
