Dana Fairbanks was one of the important characters of the show The ‘L’ Word. This is the story of the lesbian world. Ilene Chaiken, the creator of the show, explained her feelings regarding the death of Dana in the show. Dana Fairbanks, portrayed by Erin Daniels, died in the 3rd season of the show. In the previous episodes, she was suffering from breast cancer. She was a tennis player and died of a heart attack.
Chaiken, along with other cast members of this show, such as Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, Laurel Holloman, Leisha Hailey and Erin Daniels, expressed her deep disgrace and sadness regarding the death of the character of Fairbanks. She said that she was loved a lot by them and they will miss her presence every moment, because there are so many memories attached with her.
She says that she feels extremely bad about Dana’s death on the ‘The ‘L’ Word’. Her agony and feelings of regret were so real that can be seen very well. And she says that she feels worse because she was the only one person because of whom Dana died. This is something that adds guilt to her sadness, making her wish that she had never brought about that drastic turn in the storyline.
She says that if she is asked to go back to the previous season, then she will surely go and will never repeat the mistake again. It would be very hard for all of them to work without Dana. Some characters of the show are so lovable and real that they leave their shadows behind, and Dana was one of them. In this way Chaiken had made a great change in the story which gave it a different track. We hope for Dana’s comeback in ‘The ‘L’ Word’ again.
